Intro

Dazed is the go-to destination for underground dance music. The brand spotlights both emerging and renowned artists and brands within the industry. Covering genres from house, bass, and garage to drum and bass, Dazed's humble beginnings in Bristol have blossomed into a series of events across numerous UK cities and even on the international stage. Now a staple at festivals and clubs worldwide, Dazed is celebrated for featuring some of the most well known names in the underground music scene.

Challenge

  • Dazed had a limited online presence and needed a comprehensive digital platform to serve as their primary hub for event listings, artist spotlights, and music releases to reach a wider audience
  • Create a site that appeals to the diverse, high-energy and fanatical crowd, while maintaining the brand's integrity of hosting large acts
  • The site needed to be visually striking yet remain straightforward and easy to navigate, ensuring users could effortlessly find information about events, purchase tickets, and explore new music

Key Ideas & Insights

Echoing the brand’s environment in their branding

The website is dark, aligning the night time nature of the brand as well as utilising bold, condensed heavy typography that makes a statement. 

Adding custom moving elements for engagement

The design featured an interactive record player on the homepage that users can click to play the mix of the week, complete with moving needle and spinning record animations. This gives a fun visual asset that’s inline with the brand. We also incorporated moving elements, banners and micro interactions throughout the site to enhance user engagement and make navigation more intuitive.

User-centric event promotion

We built a slideshow on the Homepage to keep upcoming events front and centre, ensuring visitors are immediately aware of the latest happenings. We also created a dedicated event listings page with integrated ticket selling options from their ticket provider, making it easy for users to find and purchase tickets.

Creating brand consistency

It was important to maintain the brand's integrity by reflecting Dazed's bold and energetic identity, but also their calibre of hosting large acts and promoting their latest releases. We also produced an accompanying Shopify skin to ensure visual and functional consistency across all online platforms.
